The answer is Bartco UK’s Queue Detect. This pioneering low power system has been developed to help ease congestion on roads and highways, informing road users of potential delays and educating drivers of hazardous stationary traffic ahead.
Using state-of-the-art Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave Radar, it cleverly detects slow moving traffic which then notifies a central server to activate pre-planned messages on any number of variable message signs (VMS).
The system is set with a complex algorithm using traffic speed and flow to activate the pre-programmed message which appears instantly on the VMS to quickly and efficiently advise motorists of the change in traffic conditions.
Once traffic flow returns to the desired speed and flow, the messages are automatically removed from the VMS screen. These messages can range from warning messages, alternative routes and information about keeping windows closed in order to reduce the levels of pollution in cars.
